Work placements

Employers are increasingly looking for experience as well the correct tickets and qualification in candidates for their vacancies. Undertaking a work placement can offer you plenty of real benefits for progressing into the construction industry. Performing well on a work placement can often lead to a job offer at the end of it.

Looking to start your career in Tunnelling?

Want to help build London’s deepest tunnel? We’re on the look-out for people of all ages and backgrounds to complete a Tunnelling Operative apprenticeship.

Apprentices will learn about typical tunnelling methods such as hand tunnelling, machine tunnelling, pipe-jacking, sprayed concrete lining, shaft sinking and drill and blast.

On completion of the apprenticeship, you will become a competent tunnelling operative able to assist with the excavation, support and forming of tunnels and shafts. Progression Tunnelling operatives can progress onto more specialised roles in tunnelling with high earning potential and the opportunity for global travel.

You can apply if you:

• Are over 18 years of age

• Hold ‘Eligibility to Work in the UK’ documentation

• Don’t mind working on shift patterns that may involve unsociable hours and weekends

• Have the ability to work in a team and consistently behave in a safe and efficient manner

• Are available to attend an Assessment Centre on either 27 or 28 February 2019

Deadline for applications is Tuesday 19 February 2019 at 12:00pm. You will be required to take a mandatory drug and alcohol test before starting a work experience placement. Tideway has a zero tolerance policy on the misuse of all drugs and alcohol.
